The Elyssa project is an initiative of the French Institute of Tunisia supported by the Team France Fund. It provides an opportunity for artists based in Tunisia to express their creativity while benefiting from structured professional support.

Beya Othmani

Beya Othmani is a Tunisian-Algerian curator with an interest in projects that promote the intersection between research and arts. Her recent research has focused on the history of exhibitions, the construction of emancipatory discourses and racial identities in art in colonial and post-colonial Africa. She currently works as a researcher at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in the C-MAP Africa department (Perspectives on Contemporary-Modern Art).

In addition, she is also involved in various curatorial projects. Her recent projects include the 35th Biennial of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana and Publishing Practices #2 at Archive Berlin. She is also co-curator of a series of three exhibitions in 2024 for the Ford Foundation Gallery in New York.

Previously, she worked at the contemporary art space SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin, and curated various projects for sonsbeek20→24 (2020), the Berlinale Forum Expanded (2019), or the Dak’Art 13 Biennale(2018), among others.
